Hello everyone,

Wetbike.net recently received a donated Wetbike and trailer to auction off on the site to help raise money for the badly needed upgrades.  I would first like to thank Jim for donating the Wetbike and trailer.  I would also like to thank Barsa for picking the Wetbike up and storing it for us until the auction is complete and it finds a new home.  Barsa also spent some time looking the bike over and taking some pictures so we have a fairly good idea as to the condition of the Wetbike and trailer.

This Wetbike and trailer combo is going to have no reserve of any kind.  Highest bid takes it home regardless of price.  Bids can be submitted to pj@wetbike.net and I will record your bid and store until the close of the auction.  Please only bid if you intend to and are able to follow through with your offer.  Bidding will start with the time of this post and will end on 12/17/2006 at midnight.  All bids will be held confidential until the close of the auction.

Here is what Barsa has said about this Wetbike and trailer.  Please direct any additional questions about the condition to me so I can submit them to Barsa without hammering him with the same questions over and over.  I will post the replies so everyone can see.  I have tried to list the condition of the Wetbike and trailer as accurately as possible.  Please refer to the pictures to assimilate your own opinions.  The items will be considered "as is"  Wetbike.net, its members and operators will not be held liable for any injuries or destruction of property that results from the purchase of this Wetbike.........sorry, have to list the legal mumbo jumbo.

This Wetbike appears to be a Sea Crest 1983 bike.  Here is the HIN:
SCI01391M83L

The hull is in excellent shape, as well as the skis, impellor, and steering.

The trailer is an old style waverunner trailer with new tires, lights, and wheel bearings (Jim put them on).  It tracks well.

The engine bay had quite a bit of water in it and the gas tank has about 2 gallons of nasty sludge.

Yesterday,  I soaked the cylinders with 2-stroke oil and hand cranked the engine.  I hooked up a good battery and an isolated fuel supply in an effort to verify that it at least starts and runs.  The starter would engage but not crank, so I put in a spare that I have and it now cranks fine (test starter not included).  The starter that was originally in there looked like a new aftermarket unit (may be able to rebuild with Tom's starter rebuild article), but it was jammed tight and I could not get the motor to spin.

Once I could get it to crank, I tried to fire it up.  No spark, I took the switch plate off to check the kill switch and they were both very corroded.  The kill was fine, so was the fuse and still no spark.  It looks like there is a new coil pack and wires, also the pickup under the flywheel is very clean (cant tell if it is new or not).  I did not verify power to the coil pack

In addition, the engine sounds ok while cranking but there is play on the top bearing as the flywheel moves a bit side to side.  I did not check compression because of all the oil, it may give a false reading.  There is definitely some compression in both cylinders and they seem even with a hand crank.
